All of the fun of our upcoming Spring Open House

Those of you who know us well here at The ToolPost will know that we could never be satisfied just as a shop for woodturning tools, materials and accessories. Indeed, we want to go much further than that, helping to make you a better woodturner - and as part of that, we strive to bring some of the world's greatest woodturners to demonstrate right here at our well-heated and spacious store and workshop in Didcot, South Oxfordshire.

We make this possible through our by-now well-known biannual Open House events, which are held every June and November. Not only does our Spring Open House remain the perfect opportunity to see experts in the art of woodturning perform their craft up close, but it continues to be held on Saturday and Sunday. This follows the change that we made last year from Friday and Saturday dates, in light of the parking and traffic concerns expressed by some of our visitors.

As ever, this year's Spring Open House - which takes place on 6th and 7th June - is completely free entry, with complimentary refreshments. As far as demonstrator turners and carvers are concerned, visitors are also in for a real treat, as we are delighted to welcome both the Netherlands' Ronald Kanne and Austria's Manfred Gangl to our premises.

Kanne is a woodturner from Wehl who has gained a formidable reputation in recent years for his consistently high quality products, including the most unique handmade scales, salt and pepper mills, buttons and hammers. He counts shops, galleries, companies and institutions among his many clients, while his amazing technical prowess and efficiency in woodturning has also made him an in-demand demonstrator, both in his native Netherlands and abroad.

Ronald will be joined at our Open House by Manfred Gangl, for what we are honoured to say will be his first ever demonstration in the UK. An electrical engineer by profession who has also been an enthusiastic woodturner for four decades, Manfred has learned all that he knows about the craft from older professionals, admitting that he is truly "at the feet of the Masters".

Manfred has, since 2008, worked with the firm of Neureiter in Kuchl, Austria, organising and presenting courses on hollowing techniques and finishing. His reputation as a demonstrator is a burgeoning one, and we have no doubt that our visitors will love seeing, first hand, how he creates his gorgeous woodturned masterpieces.

As if those weren't enough reasons to attend our Spring Open House this year, don't forget that as well as the turning, carving and pyrography demonstrations, we will also be holding a Tool Sharpening Clinic, where you will be able to bring along your problem tools. There will even be a Band Saw Clinic, courtesy of Record Power, where you can learn how to get the best from your band saw.

Don't miss this year's very special event!
