One of the woodturning tool manufacturers for which we are the sole UK and Ireland distributors here at The ToolPost is Carter & Son Toolworks. Its M42 high speed steel (HSS) premium woodturning tools have already attracted a steady and enthusiastic following, despite only being available for a relatively short time. Now, we're delighted to be able to offer yet more tools in this formidable range.
The existing Carter woodturning tools that can be purchased from our Didcot store and online have won a reputation for their exceptional sharpness and edge-holding, made possible thanks to the highest quality blade material and careful heat treatment. You simply couldn't ask for better woodturning tools, and with customers constantly telling us how well-balanced and durable they are and the great feel that they provide, we're sure that these woodturners will be among the first to take advantage of the latest additions.
<>Those who have got used to hour upon hour of productive woodturning with the help of these popular tools with their matching aircraft grade aluminium handles are likely to welcome the fact that they can now turn to the same brand for skew chisels, parting tools and scrapers. We now stock both 1/2" and 1" skew chisels from Carter & Son Toolworks. They can be purchased handled or unhandled, and are both radiused skew chisels, which are easy to handle and make for the sweetest, cleanest timber cutting.
If you're in the market for a bowl scraper or square scraper, meanwhile, the company can again come to the rescue with both types of tool, measuring 1" wide and 3/8" thick. The square-ended scraper is just the thing for boxes and other square-ended projects, while if you want to finish internal bowl surfaces accurately and without a single blemish, you will appreciate the bowl scraper with its now-customary curve profile.
Finally, we are also proud to stock Carter & Sons Toolworks' new parting tools - one with a 1/8" cutting tip width and another measuring 3/16", depending on whether you need to minimise the loss of timber in the cut or are looking to achieve heavier and deeper cuts. The blades of both of these tools measure 9.1/2", and as usual with this brand, both versions sport aircraft grade aluminium handles.
We're certainly big fans here at The ToolPost of a range of HSS tools that provides such a brilliant experience for the serious woodturning enthusiast. With these new additions, an already versatile M42 range has just become even more so. It all means that if you are seeking the ultimate performance level in a woodturning tool, this is a great manufacturer to look to first.
